The True Story Of Wedding Planning in Marrakech - In 24 Hours!

When it comes to wedding planning in Marrakech, it's all about being organised and making sure you have a decent amount of time to get things done. However, we are also on hand in case of any last minute rescues.

A bride-to-be had trusted her father (who was coming to Marrakech for business) to choose a venue and a caterer for her wedding -  the photos he'd sent her had seemed very nice.

However, she arrived 48 hours before the event and had a shock. No events company had been involved. The venue was horrible, the food tasting was a disaster, and she had 110 guests arriving in two days!

Luckily, the bride was staying in a classy boutique hotel belonging to a friend of ours whom promptly called us and asked "can you do a wedding tomorrow?" - With all of our experience in the event planning business, we knew that in Marrakech it was possible!

The schedule was straight-forward: ceremony at 6 pm, cocktails at 7 pm, dinner at 8.30pm and entertainment including DJ to echo throughout the night to create a 1001 nights atmosphere. We don't know what would have happened had we not come to the rescue!

Thirty minutes after the phone call, we all met at the venue suggested by us. She loved it. In such conditions as event coordinators with no time, we could only show photos of recent parties, quickly finalize the budget and shake hands on an agreement.

Luckily, it helped that we have 20 years experience working with the best suppliers. So at 6.30pm, with less than 24 hours left, the suppliers and extra staff were called and the entertainment and DJ were booked by 10pm, despite it being high season.

Event management in Marrakech is a dream as anything is possible - if you are an insider that is.  The bride wanted the ceremony area to be green and white, and the dining area to be gold and orange. We ordered 2000 white roses and 2000 orange roses to make this dream become a reality and at sunset, on the roof, the ceremony began in a cloud of white roses, green foliage and jasmine scents.

For the cocktails, we lined the pool with slouchy rugs and pillows, and placed trays with candles and roses to float on the pool. Chilled champagne flowed alongside exquisite canapés.

Due to the last minute timing, we had spread the dinner between 3 caterers. We had Indian cuisine for the finger food, French cuisine for the appetizers and desserts and Moroccan cuisine for the main courses.

Our event planning company had 1000 glass candles in stock as well as beautiful tablecloths. With these we created a narrow long table where the 110 guests sat for an enchanting evening, before dancing the night away.

24 hours after the event, we finally the bride for the first time. She was intensely happy leaving us with a blissful feeling that yes, anything is possible in Marrakech.
